FAQ's

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine, involving the insertion of fine needles at certain points on the body for therapeutic purposes. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture is based on the concept of Qi, the life force that flows through channels called meridians. It aims to restore health by balancing the flow of Qi. Neoclassical acupuncture, a more recent development, is a palpatory style that provides immediate feedback with each needle placed, focusing on treating multiple symptoms with minimal needling. Both forms seek to promote healing and alleviate various conditions, each with its unique approach to patient care.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, acupuncture is understood as a technique that normalises the balance of Qi, or vital energy, throughout the body. It is believed that pain and illnesses are manifestations of imbalances in Qi, either as accumulations or deficiencies along the body's meridians. By inserting thin needles into specific acupuncture points, TCM practitioners aim to regulate the flow of qi, thereby restoring health and promoting well-being.

The number of acupuncture sessions required for noticeable improvement can vary widely depending on the individual's condition, the severity of symptoms, and their duration. Generally, a series of weekly to biweekly sessions over a period of 6 to 12 weeks is recommended for optimal results. Initially, more frequent sessions may be necessary to manage symptoms, with the frequency reducing as improvement is observed. It's important to note that some individuals may experience immediate relief after just a few sessions, while others with more chronic conditions might need a longer course of treatment to achieve the desired outcomes. As each person's response to treatment is unique, a tailored treatment plan developed in consultation with a qualified practitioner is the best way to determine the appropriate number of sessions for an individual's needs.

During your first session, I will conduct a thorough assessment of your health history and current concerns.

The session begins with a detailed palpation of the abdomen and legs to identify energetic disharmonies within seconds. The practitioner then inserts a minimal number of needles to rapidly alleviate symptoms and induce a deep sense of relaxation.

Patients often report immediate relief of symptoms and a profound sense of well-being as the body's energy system resets. Neoclassical acupuncture is celebrated for its immediate efficacy and the minimal discomfort it involves, making it a preferred choice for many seeking alternative healing methods.

Alongside the acupuncture i regularly include body Gua Sha.

The overall goal of acupuncture is not to cause pain but to alleviate it. Most patients report feeling minimal discomfort during the procedure, often describing the sensation as a mild ache, heaviness, or tingling at the needle site, which indicates the activation of the acupuncture point and is considered a positive response.

Facial acupuncture or Cosmetic acupuncture is a practice derived from traditional Chinese medicine, where fine needles are inserted into specific points on the face.

This process is believed to stimulate the body's healing energies and increase circulation, leading to various skin health benefits.

The needles create what are known as positive microtraumas, prompting the body to respond with a repair reaction. This response can enhance collagen production, improving skin elasticity and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Additionally, facial acupuncture is said to help even out complexion and promote a healthy glow by stimulating the lymphatic and circulatory systems, which deliver nutrients and oxygen to skin cells. It's a holistic approach that not only aims to improve appearance but also contributes to overall wellness.

Unlike dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections, facial acupuncture isn't a "quick fix". So, we recommend multiple ongoing sessions.

The number of facial acupuncture sessions needed can vary depending on individual goals and responses to treatment.

Generally, a series of 6 to 10 sessions is recommended for optimal results. Some individuals may notice improvements after just a few sessions, while others may require more to see the desired effects.

Buccal massage, also known as inter-oral massage, is a specialised facial treatment that involves gentle, targeted massage of the inner cheeks, lips, and jawline. During this treatment, a trained therapist will gently massage inside your mouth wearing a pair of sterile gloves. Using a combination of advanced manual massage techniques, the pressure can be adjusted to the individual and is normally comfortable and relaxing. As this can be a very sensitive area for some people (particularly those who hold a lot of tension, suffer with TMJ, clench or grind their teeth) you may feel a little discomfort initially (but it should never feel painful). The release you feel afterwards is worth it when you feel like a whole new person!

By massaging the buccal area (the inside of your mouth) muscles are accessed that normally cannot be reached from the outside. Not only is this great for releasing and reducing tension, but it also improves circulation by stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage. You should notice visible lifting results from the muscles being stretched and massaged, with a more defined jawline and plumped cheek bones. It can even release congestion and blockages found in the jaw area caused by stagnant lymph.

Results may vary from person to person, but most clients notice immediate benefits, with full lymphatic drainage results appearing 24-48hrs later, once fluid is fully drained. After a Buccal massage you can expect to see a noticeable improvement in your skins overall appearance. Your face will look more sculpted, relaxed and glowing. Fine lines and puffiness will diminish, and you'll feel revitalised and rejuvenated.

To maximise the benefits of a buccal massage, it's essential to follow a few aftercare tips. Avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen. Staying hydrated is crucial, as it helps flush toxins from your body. Ensure that in the evening you eat a balanced diet, followed by a gentle skincare routine. It is also recommended to avoid alcohol, intense exercise and steam.
